Brown's Peony (Paeonia brownii)

Brown's peony (Paeonia brownii) is a California-native perennial herb commonly found in the northern Sierra Nevada and other mountain ranges. This peculiar plant produces fleshy, maroon wildflowers from which additional leaves often sprout.
