Flatface Calicoflower (Downingia pulchella)

The flatface calicoflower (Downingia pulchella) is a beautiful California-endemic wildflower found in vernal pools (seasonally flooded wetlands which support a unique collection of flora and fauna). Also known as valley calicoflower or valley downingia, this annual herb often grows in large numbers, forming vast and vibrant blue floral carpets.
