Red Cone Gall Wasp (Feron kingi)

The red cone gall wasp (Feron kingi, formerly Andricus kingi) induces conical galls on the upper and lower leaf surfaces of various white oaks. These summer generation galls contain only females, and can be red, cream-colored, or a combination thereof. Spring generation galls contain males and females, and form along the leaf perimeters.
