Golden Waxy Cap (Hygrocybe flavescens)

The golden waxy cap (Hygrocybe flavescens) is a widespread mushroom, and an especially common (though always pleasant!) sight in redwood forests. It is known for its bright yellow cap, which is viscid when moist, and often has a wavy margin. Yellow waxy cap is another common name for this beautifully vibrant species.
