Beaked Spindle Gall Wasp (Heteroecus pacificus)

The beaked spindle gall wasp (Heteroecus pacificus) is known for the long, slender, and slightly curved galls it induces on huckleberry and canyon live oaks. However, it is not uncommon for gall development to be influenced by inquilines or parasites; in those cases, the galls turn out to be rather squat in appearance.
