Hawaiian Garden Spider (Argiope appensa)

The Hawaiian garden spider (Argiope appensa) is a large, showy, orb web weaver which is native to many islands in the Pacific Ocean. Despite the common name, however, this spider is not native to the Hawaiian islands (though it is now quite common there).
